Abstract.
Background: The female waist-hip ratio around 0.7 is a measure of beauty (1) reachable through liposuction and gluteal fat graft (2). We evaluate the reliability of this technique to provide long-term satisfaction. Methods: Prospective evaluation of all female patients subjected to gluteoplasty with autologous fat tissue and waist liposuction between July 2010 and January 2014, without a weight change greater than 10% during follow-up. The results were evaluated through photographs. The degree of satisfaction (patients and surgeons) was assessed through a scale of 1 (poor outcome) to 4 (excellent improvement) and agreement measured by Kappa Statistics. The technique used was epidural anesthesia, tumescent Infiltration, liposuction around the buttocks, fat decantation and grafting with retrograde injection in different planes.
Results: 122 patients were included. The age ranged between 18 and 62 years (mean = 34 years). The pre-op Body Mass Index ranged between 19 and 31.6 kg/m2 (mean = 24.9 kg/m2). The volume grafted to each buttock ranged between 180 and 840 cc (mean = 510cc). There were no medical complications. 5 patients (4.1%) had seroma in the donor area. 118 patients felt satisfied (96.7%) scoring 3 and 4 (Figure 01 to 03). Two patients (1.64%) complained of volume resorption 4 months postoperatively and two patients (1.64%) asked to diminish their lateral gluteal volume (score 2) undergoing revision surgery 6 months post-op.
Conclusion: This liposculpture technique is simple and inexpensive, with minimal morbidity and excellent results. A good result does not depend on a lot of fat infiltration (3), but in a harmonious way of combining the elimination of fat by liposuction and fat grafting for buttocks sculpting (4), even with lasting results.
