PURPOSE: To describe a new technique utilized for analysis of nasal deformities.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: We used 3-dimensional laser surface scanning to evaluate nasal deformities of 15 patients. Subjects were evaluated both anthropometrically and using standard anatomical relationships before and after primary rhinoplasty in cleft and non-cleft patients.

RESULTS AND CONCLUSIONS: Using 3-dimensional laser surface scanning is a viable alternative to approaching nasal deformities. Results are reproducible, consistent, and exact. Using the 3-dimensional laser surface scanning system, we are able to formulate operative strategies as well as outcomes with more precision and confidence than with standard techniques.
