Surface defects of the ear after resection of cancer can pose a challenge to the surgeon. Traditional ski grafts, though initially pleasing, frequently fail to maintain a good color match. This paper describes using split thickness scalp grafts with excellent results and good camouflage of the donor site. Scalp grafts are unique and maintain the color and texture of facial skin. We have over a ten-year experience with this technique and have extended it to traumatic and reconstructive defects as well.
