Being a believer in liposuction and liposculpture, I was very skeptical when I heard about cryolipolysis. I had already bought many machines in my professional life that ended up not being used and impossible to sell. But when I discovered that I could buy this machine for a reasonable price, and that the disposables for every treatment were inexpensive, I decided to try it. I am happy with my results.
Coolplas is a machine that removes unwanted body fat by cooling the fat deposits. The cooling is a non-invasive alternative for subcutaneous fat reduction through cellular apoptosis. Cellular apoptosis is a normal biological process whereby cells are eliminated as part of normal cell turnover. The injured cell enters an orderly, regulated process of gradual degradation and is absorbed by the body's immune system over time, usually two months. This reduces the subcutaneous fat tissue without damage to the overlying skin. The procedure is simple and fast (45 to 60 minutes) and after the treatment the patient can go back to normal activities. There is no downtime, no anesthesia and it can be performed during a lunch break. We are treating 4 to 6 areas per session. The treatment can be repeated if necessary after two months.
Our Coolplas CE approved technology utilizes the sensitivity of fat cells to cold injury in order to selectively eliminate subcutaneous fat tissue without affecting the skin or other surrounding tissues. The cryolipolysis technology enables a non-invasive alternative for subcutaneous fat reduction through cellular apoptosis. Cellular apoptosis is a normally occurring biological process whereby cells are eliminated as part of normal cell turnover. When injurious external stimuli (such as cold) are applied to a target cell, the apoptotic process may be triggered. If triggered, the injured cell consequently enters an orderly, regulated process of gradual degradation into smaller bodies which are absorbed by the body's immune system over time. This pathway to cellular elimination is in contrast to cellular necrosis, or uncontrolled cell death, in which an acute injury to the cell leads to lysis of the cell. Cellular necrosis triggers an aggressive inflammatory response leading to fibrotic scar tissue formation, which is not observed with cellular apoptosis. The cold treatment algorithm implemented by the Coolplas technology is designed to trigger apoptosis, eliminating fat cells without generating a wound healing reaction.
